Welcome to the Wunderkammer!

My name is Mike Stuchbery, and I'm a writer, broadcaster and habitual wanderer, based in southern Germany.

Over the last decade, I've worked as a freelance journalist, writing for publications such as The Guardian, The Independent, The Huffington Post and Byline Times.

More recently I've joined the team at The Local Europe, both writing for their German site and as an editor for their Creative Studio.

Amazingly, I've managed to build a career exploring the world around me, discovering extraordinary stories from history and sharing them with a global audience.

Now, I've decided to create a channel where I can directly communicate to my readers, take them along with me on my explorations and devote more time to telling the stories In want to tell.

I've also decided to give it the name used by early modern Germans to describe a collection of wonderful things - a Wunderkammer.

I hope you'll join me in the Wunderkammer, and I hope you'll stick around. I want to explore what's possible with the platform - I've already got some exciting ideas!

Ready to go?

Oh, and this site and newsletter will always be freely accessible. That said, when I open up paid memberships, if you want to throw in a buck to buy my next kaffee and brezel, I won't say no.

Cheers,

Mike
